I hope all is well with you this week. Melissa and the kids are out of
town for the week, so much of my time has been spent dealing with the
6 dogs: Shadow, Sugar, Angel, Gracie, Gus, and the leader of the pack,
Biscuit (I named her :o).
I was thinking about putting them all in a kennel while Melissa is
away, but I'm sure one of them would tell her about it the moment she
returns.
What? Your dogs don't talk to you? Melissa swears that hers do. I
don't really believe it, but I'm not taking any chances.
OK, we have lots to cover and I have to go walk the dogs, so let's get
going, shall we?
I've talked before about the impact of email and ISP filters on
businesses that rely on email to deliver products. The simple truth is
many emails are never received due to email program filtering and
Internet Service Provider (ISP) blocking.
And when an email isn't received does it ever occur to the buyer that
maybe it's not the sender who is at fault, but their own email program
or ISP? Probably not. It's much easier to cry "scam" and start making
silly threats involving the FBI, CIA, NATO, and a host of other
acronym-laden agencies.
If it's never occurred to you that the problem might be on your end
please read my note below to Comcast, Charter, Cox, Earthlink, and
other big ISP users who have problems receiving emails containing
download links.
On a lighter note we'll look at a few of the ways to get traffic to
your new website, 10 tips for successful eBay selling, and how to find
a profitable niche on eBay.

It amazes me how quickly people can turn from friendly to hostile.
They can be singing your praises one minute and threatening your life
the next.
Nowhere is this behavior more evident than when someone orders a
product from your website and doesn't receive email notification in a
timely manner.
Forget the fact that the reason they didn't receive the email is
probably because of their own email program spam filters or email
blocking at their ISP.
Comcast, Charter, Earthlink, Cox, and a number of other large
providers now block up to 75% of their user's emails without the
user's knowledge. Some emails get through, others do not, and no one
but the ISP knows why and they either deny it's happening or refuse to
comment.
It really wouldn't matter anyway since most people never even think
that their ISP or email program might be to blame. It is much easier
to go totally freakin' berserk and start accusing the seller of being
a scam artist and blasting their customer service department and
making threats of all kinds.
So, here we go again...

It may be hard to believe, but the US government does have pools of
grant money available for any number of reasons. I haven't dug into
this topic yet, but you can search Google for details or use one of
the grant finder services that keep up with such things.
